Accessibility Statement for MLAC.org
The Massachusetts Legal Assistance Corporation (MLAC) is dedicated to making our website accessible to everyone, including people with disabilities. We strive to ensure that every user has a universally accessible experience.
Measures to support accessibility
The Massachusetts Legal Assistance Corporation takes the following measures to ensure accessibility of MLAC.org:
- We include accessibility throughout our internal policies.
- We assign clear accessibility goals and responsibilities.
- We employ formal accessibility quality assurance methods.
Conformance status
MLAC follows the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) to ensure that our website is functionally and technically useable. WCAG outlines requirements for designers and developers to improve accessibility for people with disabilities. It defines three levels of conformance: Level A, Level AA, and Level AAA. Mlac.org is partially conformant with WCAG 2.1 level AA. Partially conformant means that some parts of our content do not fully conform to the accessibility standard.
Limitations and alternatives
Despite our best efforts to ensure that all pages and content on mlac.org are fully accessible, there may be some limitations. For example, some PDFs may not be easily accessible to people using screen readers to interact with the site. Also, certain Vimeo and YouTube videos are integrated into mlac.org but cannot be considered as part of our WCAG compliance because we do not have control over those sites. Mailchimp and Network for Good are two other third-party services we use (for our newsletter and donation page, respectively), and we do not have control over their accessibility features.
Assessment approach
Massachusetts Legal Assistance Corporation assessed the accessibility of Mlac.org by the following approaches:
- Self-evaluation
- External evaluation
