Development Associate – CLA

Community Legal Aid (CLA) seeks a Development Associate to work in its Worcester office.

Organization: Community Legal Aid provides free civil legal services to low-income and elderly residents of central and western Massachusetts.

Position:The Development Associate is a hands-on, fast-paced and multi-faceted position that will help enhance and support CLA’s donor communications and solicitation activities. The Development Associate will report to the Development Director and will support all functions of the Development team. The position will involve occasional travel to the counties of western Massachusetts.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain donor database (Salesforce.com), ensuring data accuracy and system integrity. Serve as point-person for database management, customization and upkeep.
  • Process timely gift acknowledgement letters, manage gift processing and assist with financial reconciliations.
  • Configure and manage database query and reporting; understand and recommend best practices as result of analysis.
  • Assist in the production and mailing of appeals, newsletters, and annual reports.
  • Help implement communications plans, which include message development, website, advocacy, and social media, to educate, motivate, and influence target audiences.
  • Help plan and execute donor cultivation, celebration, and solicitation events.
  • Assist with prospect research for funder and donor cultivation and stewardship.
  • Maintain and update website.
  • Perform monthly reconciliation.
  • Conduct grant and individual prospect research.

Qualifications:

  • BA or BS degree required.
  • Fundraising and communications experience strongly preferred.
  • Strong personal work ethic and ability to organize time, manage diverse activities, and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent writing, editing, and proof-reading skills and very detail oriented.
  • Demonstrated ability to be entrusted with sensitive information.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and an ability to work collaboratively with a team.
  • Experience with database management and a dedication to data integrity, systems and upkeep.
  • Experience with web management with a preference for WordPress experience.
  • Understanding of and commitment to CLA’s social justice mission.
  • Experience in digital communications, social media campaigns, and CMS and web management is highly valued.
  • Interest in implementing new systems and strategies to strengthen the organization.
  • Understanding of and commitment to CLA’s social justice mission.
