The Massachusetts Legal Assistance Corporation (“MLAC”) has published this privacy policy (“policy”) to provide an overview of how we collect, process, and protect information about you when you interact with our website, MLAC.org (“site”).

Please note that this policy does not apply to non-MLAC websites, including those you may access by clicking links on our site (for example, clicking on our Donate tab redirects you to a page hosted by Network for Good).

The type of information we collect depends on how you use our website.

Through our online contact form or other communications with us, you may choose to share information such as your name, email address, phone number, and/or any additional details you choose to provide us with, including questions and feedback.

Device information and online user activity data are tracked when you utilize our technology platforms, as described in the next section.

When people call or email us with questions about getting help from legal aid organizations or other topics related to our website, we do not ask for or keep their personal information.

  • Usage Details, such as the date, time, and length of visits, and specific pages or content accessed during the visits, search terms, frequency of the visits, and referring website addresses;

  • Comply with laws and industry standards to detect, investigate, and prevent activities that may violate MLAC’s policies or be fraudulent/illegal with the goal of protecting MLAC, you, or others.

We may use and share aggregated or de-identified data at our discretion, including for research, analysis, and improvement of our site.

  • Legal Requirements. We may share information as necessary to comply with applicable laws.   • Social Media Platforms. If you interact with us on social media platforms, the platform may be able to collect information about you and your interaction with us. To control this sharing of information, please review the privacy policy of the relevant social media platform.
  • Service Providers. We may share your information with service providers that we believe need the information to perform a technology, business, or other professional function for us. Examples include IT services, maintenance and hosting of our site, payment processors, accounting, auditing, tax services, and other professional services.

We use a combination of physical, technical, and administrative safeguards to protect the information we collect through the site. While we use these precautions to safeguard your information, no form of storing (or transmitting) information is completely secure.
